The concept behind interventional radiology is to diagnose and treat patients using the least invasive techniques currently available in order to minimize risk to the patient and improve health outcomes. These procedures have less risk, less pain and less recovery time in comparison to open surgery.
Dr Hammed Ninalowo, is a US trained Double boarded Diagnostic and Vascular/ Interventional Radiologist who completed his training at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania and is the first US trained Physician to offer the full spectrum of interventional Radiology services in Nigeria. He obtained his medical degree at the University
Dr Hammed Ninalowo, is a US trained Double boarded Diagnostic and Vascular/ Interventional Radiologist who completed his training at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania and is the first US trained Physician to offer the full spectrum of interventional Radiology services in Nigeria. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois and graduated at the top of his class with honors(Alpha Omega Alpha). He then went on to Residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He started his practice IRDOCNIGERIA in 2018 and has since moved his practice primarily to Nigeria to deliver Interventional Radiology care to Nigerian and Subsharan African patients. Dr Ninalowo has pioneered many procedures in Nigeria and West Africa including the First Transjugular Portosystemic shunt, Part of the team for the first Endovascular Brain aneurysm coiling, First Prostate artery embolization, First endovascular repair of aortic aneurysm, First scrotal varicocele embolization to name a few. He is well known and passionate for the treatment of Uterine Fibroids with a minimally invasive procedure called Uterine Fibroid Embolization. He is the Co-Founder of Accuread Radiology, the first Nigerian Teleradiology company providing remote teleradiology services to many hospitals in West Africa and market leader in Nigeria. He has a passion for improving access to Minimally invasive therapies and continues to persevere in the quest to make this readily available to the West African population.
